The Johns Hopkins Hospital Presidency Dear Colleagues, During the past 19 years, I have had the privilege of serving concurrently as the 10th president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, third president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and the very first executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. During this time, Johns Hopkins Medicine has grown exponentially in size and complexity. As a result of this growth, and as a part of the succession planning process for leadership of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dean/CEO Rothman and I, along with the trustees, have decided that now is the time to recruit the next president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Together, Dr. Rothman and I will co-chair the search committee that has been formed to determine who will serve in that position. Our aim is to have the next president in place by July 1, 2016. I will work with the new president when he or she comes on board, and this individual will report to me. I will continue to serve as Dr. Rothman’s partner in the leadership of our enterprise as president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. All members of the Johns Hopkins Medicine community should take comfort in knowing that an orderly transition process for leadership of our iconic flagship hospital is underway. Sincerely, Ronald R. Peterson Cc: Paul B. Rothman, M.D.
