Thank You To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community Dear Colleagues, As we faced one of the biggest snow events in recent history, we were reminded once again of the formidable spirit of Johns Hopkins Medicine employees. Thanks to your selflessness and commitment, our health system continued to deliver exceptional patient care in spite of the extraordinary circumstances. We are grateful to all staff members at Howard County General Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Suburban Hospital and The Johns Hopkins Hospital who made the necessary preparations to ensure our patients’ needs were met, and to the nonclinical staff members and volunteers who provided support. There are many stories from across Johns Hopkins Medicine of employees going the extra mile to keep our operations running. From those who worked back-to-back shifts to make sure our hospitals were adequately staffed; to the nutrition workers who produced a surplus of food for patients and staff members staying overnight in the hospital; to the facilities teams who cleared the snow from our walkways and parking lots to keep our campuses safe for patients, visitors and staff; to the security personnel and drivers who helped transport nurses, physicians and other employees to and from our hospitals, there are countless examples of our people rallying together for a common purpose—patient care. We would also like to extend a special thanks to the command center staff members at each of our hospitals, who led our preparedness efforts to make sure we were ready for the emergency. Johns Hopkins Home Care Group and Potomac Home Health Care employees are also to be commended not only for continuing operations, but also for shoveling out patients’ homes during blizzard conditions to provide patient care visits, private-duty nursing and personal care, essential oxygen and life support medical equipment, infusions, and pharmacy services. We appreciate all of you who worked this weekend and spent several days away from your loved ones. Your tremendous commitment does not go unnoticed. For all of our staff members with clinical care and patient support functions who did not have to work this weekend, please report for your scheduled shifts so that we can relieve those who were here this weekend. Thank you again for a job well done today and every day. Sincerely, Paul B. Rothman, M.D. Ronald R. Peterson
