Dear Colleagues,

One of the many ways our employees help make a difference in our local communities is through the annual Johns Hopkins Medicine United Way campaign. Thanks to your participation, contributions and creative fundraising, we once again surpassed our 2015 goal of $1.73 million to help change the odds for families and communities.

We even captured a number of your colleagues celebrating the success of this year's campaign. Watch a brief video to understand what we mean and see if you recognize anyone among our enthusiastic workforce.

Your participation and contributions to the 2015 United Way campaign have left a positive impact on the lives of our friends and neighbors who struggle to meet basic needs we may often take for granted. Please take a moment to read about a few ways that United Way makes a difference in our local communities:

• The 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline answers more than 450,000 calls for help each year in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia.
• 9.1 million meals have been distributed to low-income families across central Maryland over the past five years.
• Nearly 2,300 individuals facing homelessness received much-needed resources at Project Homeless Connect events in 2015.
• Of the 753 families that enrolled in United Way housing programs since 2012, 93 percent remain safely housed.
