Mary Myers Appointed President/CEO of Johns Hopkins Home Care Group To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community Dear Colleagues, With the planned transition of Dan Smith from Johns Hopkins Home Care Group to his appointment as senior vice president of finance for the Johns Hopkins Health System and chief financial officer for The Johns Hopkins Hospital, we are pleased to announce that Mary Myers has been appointed president/CEO for Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, effective July 1. Over the past 12 years, Mary has held several leadership roles within Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, most recently as vice president and chief operating officer, as well as senior director of quality and safety. Additionally, she has been the chief quality officer for Johns Hopkins Medicine's home-based services, as appointed by the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, and leads the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Home Based Services. Prior to joining the Home Care Group, Mary held several positions in clinical leadership throughout The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, hospice and consulting. During this transition, we have no doubt that Mary will continue to oversee a strong leadership team that is well-prepared with a highly engaged workforce to take Home Care to the next level in executing its strategic plan. Mary has been instrumental in transforming Johns Hopkins Home Care Group to a just culture where quality and safety are paramount. Mary’s successful leadership has been demonstrated by numerous deficiency-free Joint Commission and state surveys, achievement of a HomeCare Elite ranking, attainment of a URAC Specialty Pharmacy accreditation and being named top tier on the road to a high-reliability organization by the Joint Commission. Her ongoing focus on embedding the pillars of operational excellence can be seen throughout Johns Hopkins Home Care Group. She has also been influential in developing transition programs for the health system to support targeted patient populations at risk for readmission, creating disease management programs utilizing remote patient monitoring, adding to Johns Hopkins Home Care Connection’s network of home care providers, growing Johns Hopkins Home Support private pay home-based concierge services and obtaining a certificate of need to expand pediatric home health to Washington, D.C. Mary is also recognized as the founder and executive leader of the Home Care Group's administrative residency program, which has successfully developed and promoted young health care leaders year after year. In addition to Mary's Home Care Group responsibilities, she serves on the advisory council of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins Medicine Risk Management Committee, and is a board member for Potomac Home Health Care and Potomac Home Support, Hospice of the Chesapeake, and the American Diabetes Association. She was one of four primary leaders of the Johns Hopkins Medicine care coordination initiative that transformed into J-CHiP. Mary received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Villanova University and master's degree from the University of Maryland. She is a graduate of Greater Baltimore LEADERship and Johns Hopkins’ Leading Transformation for Value-Based Health Care program. She holds an associate faculty position with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is a member of the advisory board for the Master of Health Administration degree program. Please join us in congratulating Mary on this well-deserved appointment. Sincerely, Ronald J. Werthman Daniel B. Smith
