Director of Online Education for the School of Medicine Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to announce that Robert Kearns will become director of online education, a new position in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, effective Feb. 15. Robert earned a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in entrepreneurship from Babson College in Massachusetts. He then obtained his master’s degree in education from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, where he specialized in adult learning and instructional technology. Robert is a leader in instructional design and e-learning with an extensive background in higher education. Since 2012, he has served as director of instructional design for the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. He previously worked as an instructional designer for the school of nursing and as an instructional technologist for the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. In his new role, Robert will develop, market and evaluate online learning initiatives and distance learning education programs for the school of medicine. He will work closely with faculty members and other leaders throughout The Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine to create a coordinated approach to online and distance learning.
