Jacqueline Schultz to Serve as Interim President of Suburban Hospital

To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community

Dear Colleagues,

Several weeks ago, we announced that Gene Green would be stepping down from his position as president of Suburban Hospital. I am delighted to announce that Jacqueline Schultz, Suburban Hospital's executive vice president and acting chief nursing officer, has agreed to serve as interim president, effective Oct. 30. I am also pleased that Dr. Robert Rothstein, Suburban's vice president of medical affairs, has agreed to delay his planned retirement for several months to assist Jacky and provide additional stability during the transition.

Jacky is a strong leader with more than 30 years in the health care industry. Since coming to Suburban in 2005, she has served as the chief nursing officer, senior vice president for patient care, senior vice president for clinical operations, and executive vice president and chief operating officer. A valued member of the Suburban team, Jacky played an instrumental role in establishing and developing a very successful relationship with Kaiser Permanente. She has also served as the Community Division's representative to the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, and she initiated and supported efforts to develop a shared governance model of nursing practice at Suburban. Her considerable experience will enable her to provide the leadership and operational direction that will ensure the hospital continues to provide the highest-quality patient- and family-centered care to our patients in the Washington metro area.

I am grateful to Jacky for her willingness to assume the additional responsibilities while we conduct a national search for a new president, and to Bob for his continued leadership and support. Please join me in thanking them both.

Sincerely,

Ronald R. Peterson
President
The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System
EVP, Johns Hopkins Medicine
