Academic Division Pharmacy Services to Integrate Under a Single Organizational Structure Dear Colleagues, In our continued effort to become the model for an academically based, integrated health care delivery system, we are pleased to announce that pharmacy services within the academic division of Johns Hopkins Medicine, which includes The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, will be integrated under a single organizational structure. This change will be effective on Sept. 28, 2014. Managing pharmacy services on a more integrated basis between the two academic hospitals will eliminate redundancies, ensure consistency in pharmacy practices, improve efficiency and clinical operational outcomes, and provide greater access to institutional resources and expertise. It also positions us more effectively for the inpatient Epic implementation, scheduled for Dec. 1, 2015, on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus, and on July 1, 2016, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The decision to take an integrated and collaborative approach to the delivery of pharmacy services is the result of a two-year process that involved recommendations from an outside consultant and the development of a memorandum of understanding outlining shared services, organizational structure, and priorities supporting collaboration and efficiency. Thank you to the key stakeholders at each of the hospitals for their work in the development of the integration plan. As a part of this integration, we are also delighted to inform you that Daniel Ashby will assume the role of senior director for pharmacy for the academic division, Todd Nesbit will be the director of pharmacy patient care services, and Carla Gill will become the director of informatics and medication use systems. Javier Vazquez will continue in his role as director of pharmacy for Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. We are excited about the opportunities for shared services and coordination within the pharmacy divisions at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Department of Pharmacy at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Sincerely, Anita Langford, R.N., M.S. Redonda G. Miller, M.D. Judy A. Reitz, Sc.D. Charles Reuland, Sc.D.
