Mohan Chellappa Appointed Interim CEO for Johns Hopkins Medicine International Dear Colleagues, We are delighted to announce that Mohan Chellappa, president of global ventures for Johns Hopkins Medicine International, has agreed to serve as JHI's interim chief executive officer, effective Sept. 1. Dr. Chellappa is one of the founding members of Johns Hopkins Medicine International. His strong clinical background and considerable international business experience will enable him to fulfill the chief executive officer's duties previously handled so ably by Johns Hopkins Medicine International's founding leader, Steven Thompson. Dr. Chellappa will fill this post until a permanent successor is selected by the search committee. Since 1997, he has been involved in the development of Johns Hopkins Medicine's international consultancy activities and has been instrumental in establishing more than 50 mission-driven engagements around the world. A surgeon by profession, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Chellappa also holds an M.B.A. He currently serves on the boards of Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare in Saudi Arabia and HCL Healthcare in India. Dr. Chellappa will ensure that Johns Hopkins Medicine International continues to provide the best possible experience for out-of-state and international patients and families and to build sustainable platforms for health care delivery overseas, creating career-building opportunities for our clinicians and other experts. We are grateful to Dr. Chellappa not only for his willingness to assume the additional responsibilities of interim CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, but also for the great job we know he is certain to perform in doing so. Sincerely, Paul B. Rothman, M.D. Ronald R. Peterson
