John Lowery Retires as Senior Director of JHM Access Services; New Leadership Announced

To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community

Dear Colleagues,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of John Lowery, who served the Johns Hopkins community and our patients for almost 17 years.

As senior director of Johns Hopkins Medicine Access Services, John's work touched our institution and patients on many levels. Keen attention to both patient relations and revenue demands a delicate leadership balance, and John maintained that balance masterfully in his years at Johns Hopkins. He has left an indelible mark on the university, the medical school and the hospital, and we salute his years of service.

John's retirement leads us to an opportunity to reevaluate the leadership of Johns Hopkins Medicine's Access Services. Based on this evaluation, leadership of Access Services will now be divided between Joyce Slater, senior director of revenue operations for the Clinical Practice Association, who will have responsibility for appointment and referral services as well as training, and Sandra Johnson, senior director of patient services in the Department of Patient Financial Services, who will have responsibility for financial clearance.
