Thank you for helping to open The Johns Hopkins Hospital’s new front door Dear Colleagues, Today is a momentous day in the history of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Thank you for being involved as The Johns Hopkins Hospital opens its new buildings—the Sheikh Zayed Tower and The Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center—and begins a new era of innovative and compassionate patient- and family-centered care. It has been a decade since we first embarked on this ambitious campus redevelopment and construction project on the East Baltimore medical campus. And now, we have a building well suited for our world-renowned medicine and exceptional patient care. Without a doubt, your dedication, patience and sacrifice these past 10 years helped us overcome myriad challenges. Your efforts have made what could have been a mediocre space into a truly spectacular clinical home for our patients and their families. Thank you for your tremendous support in helping us achieve this remarkable accomplishment. We’d also like to express appreciation to those who helped with the intricate coordination and actual transfer of our patients into the new building during the past two days, as well as those who will continue to care for our patients in the historic buildings. We expect that this grand facility will significantly impact our patients’ experiences. And, we truly hope that you—our faculty, staff, residents and students—enjoy this sophisticated new environment as you continue to deliver the promise of medicine. Sincerely, Edward D. Miller, M.D.
