Gary Carnes, president and CEO of All Children's Hospital to retire; Interim president announced Dear Colleagues, We are writing to inform you that Gary A. Carnes, president and CEO of All Children's Hospital, has announced his retirement, effective February 29, 2012. Gary Carnes' fifteen-year tenure marked a momentous period in All Children's 86-year history. Under his leadership, All Children's Hospital extended its reach throughout the state of Florida and the Southeast, built a state-of-the-art pediatric hospital and outpatient facility, and became a recognized center for innovation and excellence in pediatric treatment, education, research and advocacy. Mr. Carnes was instrumental in creating a vision for the All Children's future that ultimately resulted in All Children's Hospital's integration as a full member of Johns Hopkins Health System. Current vice dean and physician-in-chief for All Children's Hospital Jonathan Ellen, M.D. will serve as interim president until such time as a permanent president is named. Dr. Ellen has significant experience in successfully leading mission-centered pediatric healthcare at both Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and, over the last two years, at All Children's Hospital. Dr. Ellen's demonstrated commitment to research and education, and his focus on community benefit, will be tremendous assets to both All Children's Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Medicine family. Sincerely, Edward D. Miller, M.D.
