April 7, 2006 Dear Colleagues: We want to give you an update on the HopkinsOne project. As you may recall, we recently reported on the revised planning process for the implementation of HopkinsOne, the multiyear effort to upgrade and modernize our business systems. We have been seeking input from leadership groups throughout the university and health system before finalizing the new plan and announcing a new “go-live” date. We can tell you that it will be no sooner than January 2007. We have received an enormous amount of productive feedback from those leadership meetings, and so are not yet finished with our analysis and data gathering. To make sure we have not left anything unexamined, when we do finish, we will have an outside consultant review the plan and assess our strategy. When this independent assessment is completed, we believe we will be in a good position to announce a new go-live date for HopkinsOne. In the meantime, we remain on target to go live on July 1 with Coeus, the new online process for applying for federal sponsored project funding. We appreciate everyone's input and patience as we move forward with this critical upgrade and modernization of the Johns Hopkins business systems. HopkinsOne, as you know, includes implementation of new software and processes for payroll, HR, procurement, sponsored projects administration and other tasks. When completed, HopkinsOne will have streamlined our business systems; improved efficiency, reporting and compliance capabilities; and put us on a firm footing for the future. We will get back to you just as soon as we can announce the go-live date for this project. Jim McGill, Co-Chair HopkinsOne Executive and Steering Committees |
