June 3, 2005 Dear Colleagues and Friends: It is with very mixed emotions that I advise that I will be leaving the Johns Hopkins community at the end of August to assume the position of executive vice president and chief medical officer of the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati. This position will involve clinical oversight and planning for a seven-hospital system in northern Kentucky and southern Ohio and responsibility for quality, safety and program integration, planning and management. The system includes the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and associated activities also will include the development of enhanced clinical, academic and administrative\business relationships between the Alliance and the University as both expand their operations throughout the region. After 23 years with Johns Hopkins Medicine, the last 11 on the Bayview Campus, this was a very difficult decision to make. My time here has been a rewarding experience of working with some of the most extraordinarily gifted, visionary and talented individuals that could be assembled anywhere. Although I look forward to new challenges, I regret that I will miss the wonderful future and promise that I know this campus will fulfill. I have learned a great deal from all of you and wish you all the best. Sincerely, Reuven Pasternak, M.D., MPH, MBA |
