December 12, 2003 Dear Colleagues, In our quest to establish a more rational approach to the oversight of the rapidly escalating regulatory and compliance workload, we are pleased to announce the promotion of Dan Shealer to the position of JHHS/JHH Vice President for Corporate Compliance. In this expanded role, Dan will continue to serve as Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He will continue to report to Joanne Pollak in his capacity as Deputy General Counsel and will report directly to Ron Peterson as the Vice President for Corporate Compliance. In his new capacity as Vice President for Corporate Compliance, Dan will serve as the administrative VP for the JHHS Compliance Department, overseeing the activities of the JHHS Chief Compliance Officer and staff. He will also have the responsibility for coordinating interactions involving compliance matters with JHHS and affiliated boards and board committees. Among other duties, he will be responsible for establishing mechanisms and processes for identifying and addressing regulatory and other compliance matters affecting JHHS and affiliates. As General Counsel, Joanne Pollak will retain responsibility for HIPAA compliance matters, but all other compliance issues will fall under the purview of Dan Shealer. Please join us in extending heartfelt congratulations to Dan Shealer on the occasion of his promotion, which was confirmed by the JHHS Board of Trustees December 9, to be effective January 1, 2004. Sincerely,
