March 5, 2003 Dear Colleagues: In response to requests submitted during the Make Your Mark
employee survey for more food choices, a number of menu and venue changes
were made. The Asian Café and Subway® were opened; new menu
rotations were developed for the Main Cafeteria and Grille 601; and,
fresh-baked items by our in-house bakery chef were added to the EspressOasis.
All of these additions and changes have been well received. However,
there have been persistent patient and employee complaints regarding
the cooking odors emitted by the Asian Café. Exhaustive investigations
into alternative venting and air handling systems have yielded no viable
solution to the problem. We are currently in negotiation with a popular
Baltimore eatery to develop a satellite operation in the space being
vacated by the Asian Café. Sincerely, Kenneth Grant |
