April 26, 2002 Dear Colleagues, Im excited and proud to report that you are Making Your Mark! Efforts to improve our workplace based on your feedback from the Employee Satisfaction Survey 2001 are well underway. Based on recommendations from HR Solutions, Inc., the private consulting firm who conducted our survey, Hospital leadership identified seven organizational opportunities on which to focus our efforts. Then, several vice presidents, including myself, took on specific areas relevant to our experience and developed action plans for the organization as a whole. Progress to date is summarized in this report. We will continue to monitor and affect change in these areas, and will be collaborating as appropriate with School of Medicine, especially in the areas related to physical working conditions and human resources. Many departments have also submitted action plans. If your department hasnt yet started this process, you might be inspired by some of the ways others have approached action planning, which are highlighted inside. We look forward to updating you on additional improvements. I welcome your feedback and encourage you to talk to your manager about how you can continue to Make Your Mark. Sincerely, Pamela D. Paulk Vice President, Human Resources
