February 22, 2002 Dear Colleagues: I am delighted to announce that Paul T. White, J.D., has been appointed Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid of the School of Medicine. Paul has done a superb job at organizing the School of Medicine admissions process as Assistant Dean for Admissions. This new position reflects his broad and comprehensive vision as an administrator and allows better coordination of admissions and financial aid two vital steps in the process leading to matriculation. Before coming to Hopkins in 1994 as Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Paul served in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Yale University, where he was promoted to Assistant Director of Admissions. He later served as Associate Dean of Admissions at Hamilton College in New York and subsequently as Senior Associate Dean of Admissions at Colgate University. Born and raised in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Paul received his Bachelors Degree in American Studies from Yale University and his law degree from Georgetown University. Among his professional affiliations are the JHU Black Faculty and Staff Association, which he co-founded and served as President and as chair of its Professional Development Committee. He currently serves as a member of the National Merit Corporation Scholarship Selection Committee, the Educational Testing Services Scholarship Recognition Committee and as chairman of the board of Hightower Scholars, Inc. With Paul in place as director of the Financial Aid Office and joining Nancy Lee, who has done an excellent job as interim director, we can better insure that the interests of the School and the students are met. Sincerely, Edward D. Miller, M.D. |
