Peter Greene Takes on Expanded Role as JHM's Chief Medical Information Officer To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community Dear Colleagues, We are very pleased to announce that Peter Greene, as chief medical information officer for Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), has been asked to oversee a wide range of innovative programs regarding intelligent computing, advanced analytics and data governance. Peter has performed many of these functions for some time, but with this step we seek to both formalize and extend his role. Peter attended medical school at Yale University, trained in cardiac surgery at Johns Hopkins, and was an attending cardiac surgeon at The Johns Hopkins Hospital for 11 years. He is also the founding executive director of MedBiquitous, a standards development organization supporting more than 30 educational groups including the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American College of Surgeons. Peter will continue to play a lead role in the implementation and optimization of Epic and our other clinical information systems. A nationally recognized expert in applied informatics, he oversees a team of informatics champions who are working to improve workflows and support better clinical communication and decision making. Peter will also remain the chair of the Data Trust Council, which is responsible for the governance of JHM data and development of policies to ensure the quality and accessibility of data and its use for appropriate purposes. We have asked Peter to lead the development of new organizational structures and processes for data governance and to oversee the operational coordination of enterprisewide analytics. In this role, he will work with senior leaders from across JHM to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of analytics, including working within our clinical enterprise as well as at the interface of our clinical, research and educational missions – for example, with Johns Hopkins inHealth. Our ability to continue to lead across all parts of our mission will be predicated on our ability to harness data to enhance opportunity and performance in clinical care, education and research. As before, Peter will partner closely with Stephanie Reel, senior vice president for information services, and he will report to Robert Kasdin, chief operating officer for JHM, and Landon King, executive vice dean of the school of medicine. Please join us in thanking Peter and congratulating him on this expanded role. Sincerely, Paul B. Rothman, M.D. Kevin W. Sowers, M.S.N., R.N., F.A.A.N. |
