Meeting with the President and Veterans Affairs Leaders Dear Colleagues, You may soon see news reports that I was among a group of health care leaders who met today with the President and the incoming leadership of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. The small, nonpartisan group was invited to discuss strategies for providing the best possible care to our veterans and for enriching the biomedical research carried out in Veterans Affairs labs and clinics. Our veterans and their families deserve timely, high-quality medical treatment supported by a robust research program that addresses their particular health needs. As leaders of large health care institutions, my colleagues and I appreciate the opportunity to work with Secretary-designate David Shulkin and to share our collective insight and expertise, with the goal of improving the quality of and access to care for our nation's veterans. Sincerely, Paul B. Rothman, M.D. |
