Hear Surgeon-in-Chief Robert Higgins and U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski Speak on Jan. 13 To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community You are invited to Johns Hopkins’ 35th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration, which will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Turner Auditorium on the East Baltimore campus. The event will feature a keynote address from Robert Higgins, surgeon-in-chief of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and director of the Department of Surgery at the school of medicine. He will speak on the theme, "Moving Forward Together." U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski, the longest-serving female member of Congress in history, who recently retired from the office, will deliver remarks. Ronald J. Daniels, president of The Johns Hopkins University; Paul B. Rothman, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine; and Ronald R. Peterson, president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, will also share remarks. Other program highlights include recognition of the recipients of the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Awards for their extraordinary work and a performance by Unified Voices, a choir of local residents and Johns Hopkins employees.
