Appointment of Mitch Bonanno as John Hopkins' Chief Real Estate Officer

To the Johns Hopkins Medicine community

Dear Colleagues:

After a national search by a committee of Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System senior leadership, we are very pleased to announce that Mitch Bonanno, former Senior Vice President and Director of Development for Vornado/Charles E. Smith, will become Johns Hopkins' first Chief Real Estate Officer effective September 11, 2017.

The search committee is thrilled with Mitch's appointment and believes he will make significant contributions to achieving excellence in Johns Hopkins' teaching, research, patient care and service missions through his leadership in managing the University's and Health System's current real estate portfolio and preparing to meet the long-term real estate requirements of both institutions.

Mitch comes to Johns Hopkins with over 25 years of real estate development and construction operations experience. Over the last decade he has served as Senior Vice President and Director of Development at Vornado/Charles E. Smith. In this role, Mitch galvanized the company's growth through positive strategic partnerships, acquisitions, development, major asset repositioning, and creative place-making. In addition to leading regional development efforts, Mitch spearheaded Vornado's largest and most complex strategic initiative in the region - to establish a new vision for Crystal City and Vornado's 8 million square foot Crystal City portfolio, and affect positive change in the community.

Prior to his time with Vornado/Charles E. Smith, Mitch was a Development Executive with Clark Real Estate Advisors, LLC, an investment and development consulting firm. He also brings a unique expertise in the strategic, business, and technical facets of the project development cycle through his years with Clark Construction and Crimson Partners, L.C.

Mitch graduated from the University of Maryland where he earned both his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science in Civil Engineering. He is also a proud graduate of Johns Hopkins University, where he earned his Master of Science in Real Estate.

Please join us in welcoming Mitch Bonanno to Johns Hopkins.

Sincerely,
