Annual Political Campaign Guidance To Johns Hopkins Health System employees Dear Colleagues: The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation is committed to the free and open expression of ideas. The health system encourages employees to be engaged civically and to participate in the electoral process at all levels: local, state and federal. Federal law, however, provides that a tax-exempt organization like Johns Hopkins Health System may not itself "participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office." The Johns Hopkins Health System political campaign activity guidelines provide practical guidance to health system employees on complying with health system policy and IRS requirements. Sincerely, G. Daniel Shealer Jr. Thomas S. Lewis |
